Quiet Noises

Quiet noises are the softest and the loudest. They come disguised as soothers, but in the trueness of their being, they are little sirens with gentle claws – gentle claws that bruise you as they simultaneously ice the pain so you never find their true intentions.

Have you seen those quiet noises I speak of? Have you found yours yet?

Sometimes I see them from the screens – the tiny ones and the big ones. I don’t have a large screen for this reason and because I don’t know where to put them or how to operate them. They come with a stick with so many buttons, it overwhelms me how many buttons there are.

But the quiet noises don’t only live on the screens. I hear them everywhere I go. They advertise as peace givers, neutralizers, pacifiers, and comforters. I hear them say, "Come out and play; here is better than there, and you will feel good for a little while." But I know better. I know they are quiet noises with the softest and the loudest false lullabies. I know they come disguised as soothers, but in the trueness of their being, they are little sirens with gentle claws – gentle claws that bruise you as they simultaneously ice the pain so you never find their true intentions.

Sometimes I think I have mastered their schemes and traps. Sometimes I think I have outrun them and built better defenses to combat their slithering nature. But suddenly I wake up from their false soothing and look at my watch and calendar – I have been under their spell for many moons. Time has passed, and the lullaby they sang in fragrant deviance shredded my defenses, allowing for a long, deep, inaudible invasion.

Quiet noises.

Have you seen those quiet noises I speak of? Have you found yours yet?

Look harder but not too hard, or you will overlook them. Search for them quickly, but not too hastily, or you will be mesmerized by the multipliers they birthed while you were in the trance.

I caution you again, be careful; these quiet noises I speak of are at times identical to what you see in the mirror and the one next to you.

You can conquer these quiet noises and break the spell. All you have to do is to stay still in their quiet whirlwinds with your eyes fixed on the eye of the whirlwind, which is surprisingly stable while everything around it silently yet loudly destroys everything.

Keep your eyes open and stay still – quieter than the quiet noise. Quiet noises like movement, keeping still tires them out.
